Alex Major not relenting on Lilongwe’s Mgona MCP rally-“See You There, The rally is on!”

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Former Malawi Congress Party lawmaker for Kasungu West Alex Major has confirmed that his big year-end political rally at Mgona Ground in Lilongwe is going ahead.

The outspoken party member has called for unity and promised a clear path to the 2030 elections.

In an interview with The Maravi Post on Sunday evening, Major asked party followers and Malawians at large to ignore posts on Facebook and WhatsApp claiming the rally was fake.

Said Major: “The Ali Ndi Mau rally is set for Wednesday, 31 December 2025, at Mgona Ground in Lilongwe. The rally is on. Period. This is a call to all party members to come together, listen and get ready for the work ahead. We are united and focused.”

According to Major, the event is designed to be a show of strength, with a guest list that includes key leaders from all levels of the party—including all district chairpersons from across Malawi, the regional committee and other top party figures.

He added that the day will start with a convoy travelling from the MCP headquarters in the city centre to Mgona Ground.

The rally comes amid internal party debates and recent arrests of some MCP officials, but Major was quick to add that the party is not shaken.

He also used the interview to respond to critics who have called him a rebel or trouble-maker within the party.

“Let me be clear: I am not a rebel. I am a pillar of this party. My loyalty is solid. President Lazarus Chakwera is our leader until the next convention, whenever that is. My goal is to strengthen our party, not break it.”

The theme for the rally, printed on its posters, points directly to the future: “Tiyeni Tonse Tikamve Mmene Tiyendele Mu 2026” (Let us all hear how we will proceed in 2026). It ends with a call for solidarity: “Musaphonye! Tikhale limodzi.” (Don’t be divided! Let us be united.)

Political observers see the rally as a critical moment for the MCP, saying it’s a chance to rally the grassroots, project unity and set the tone for the 2030 elections.

Jade Roper Thinks Late Son Beau Appeared as ‘Extra Boy’ in Faux Family Pic

Bachelor Nation’s Jade Roper is sharing how her and husband Tanner Tolbert’s late son, Beau, was included in a faux holiday photo.

“Did the Norman Rockwell holiday trend and an extra boy was in our image, and it touched my heart, because of course Beau would want to make the family photo,” Roper, 39, wrote via her Instagram Story on Saturday, December 27, referring to the trend of users asking ChatGPT to create a family portrait.

In the image, Roper posed for the camera with Tolbert, 38, and four children beside a festive Christmas tree. Three of the children resembled the couple’s kids: daughter Emmy, 8, and sons Brooks, 6, and Reed, 5.

In a separate Instagram Story, Roper shared her correspondence, where she noted that “there should be two boys total and one girl.” As a response, a message read, “Got it — thank you for your patience, and you were totally right to flag that.”

While sharing the revised image without the third son, Roper noted, “But now it just sort of feels empty.”

Roper — who met Tolbert on Bachelor in Paradise season 2, tying the knot in 2016 — announced in 2023 that the couple were expecting their fourth child when she experienced a pregnancy loss.

“I’ve been struggling what to write here as I’ve been navigating a miscarriage,” she wrote via Instagram at the time. “It felt like all my dreams were coming true to welcome another baby into our lives, to love and to complete our family. While our hearts are completely broken and we have been dealing with the deep and complex grief of the loss, we have been blessed to be touched by his soul or his short amount of time. I am forever changed.”

She continued, I’m currently experiencing what is called a missed miscarriage, so while his heart has stopped and he has stopped growing (for some time now), my body hasn’t released the pregnancy yet. I am hoping to do this naturally and am trusting in timing and in my body under the care of my provider.”

Roper noted that she had been carrying the pregnancy “with so much pride and cherish every moment still left with part of him,” adding that “it has also been equally as challenging and devastating.”

“So while I hold my belly here, our sweet baby’s body is resting in my womb as his soul soars,” she concluded. “We love you with every piece of our hearts, baby Beau.”

Months later, Roper shared that Beau was diagnosed with Down syndrome. While responding to an Instagram Story Q&A, Roper noted that it’s possible “his tiny heart wasn’t strong enough.”

“A lot of DS diagnoses are accompanied with congenital heart conditions,” Roper added.

In September, Roper marked the anniversary of her pregnancy loss with a tribute to Beau.

“Two years since my D&C. Two years without you sweet Beau,” she wrote via Instagram at the time, referring to a dilation and curettage. (In the procedure, the cervix is dilated in order to remove tissue from inside the uterus and is used to treat miscarriages and end unwanted or unsafe pregnancies.)

“Grief is quieter now, but it’s still here, woven into who I am,” Roper continued. “Remembering the baby I never got to hold, yet still hold in my heart.”

Legislator Vuwa Kaunda commits MK5billion towards long-awaited Nkhata Bay Stadium, infrastructure projects

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Member of Parliament (MP) for Nkhata Bay Central, Vuwa Kaunda, has announced that the long-awaited construction of a modern stadium in the district will finally commence following the allocation of K5 billion for development projects in the constituency.

In an interview with Maravi Post Online on Sunday, Kaunda said the funding will support not only the stadium project but also address long-standing infrastructure challenges, with implementation expected to begin on 1 April.

Kaunda disclosed that the Nkhata Bay District Council previously contributed MK100 million towards the development of Maganga Community Ground, which was used to construct a perimeter fence.

The funds were sourced from the District Development Fund (DDF) for the 2024/2025 financial year, and the ground is now fully fenced.

“Five billion kwacha is more than enough to construct the stadium, tarmac roads around Nkhata Bay Centre, and extend electricity to underserved areas,” Kaunda said. “We are also working on improving road links between the centre and existing tarmac roads.”

The stadium project has been one of Kaunda’s flagship development priorities over the past five years.

He has consistently argued that the absence of proper sports infrastructure in Nkhata Bay limits youth participation in sports and hinders talent development.

According to Kaunda, the existing community ground has already made a positive impact.

Youth teams regularly use the facility for football matches, while the District Council generates revenue through gate collections when major teams such as Moyale Barracks play friendly matches in the area.

“The ground is helping our youth stay engaged in sports, and at the same time it is generating income for the District Council,” he said.

Kaunda noted that the lack of a standard stadium has forced local teams to travel long distances to compete, a situation he believes discourages young athletes and slows sports development in the lakeshore district.

Beyond sports infrastructure, the legislator has repeatedly raised concerns in Parliament and public forums about poor road networks, limited electricity access, and inadequate economic infrastructure in Nkhata Bay Central.

He has argued that improving access roads is critical to boosting tourism, trade, and fishing-related businesses, given the district’s strategic location along Lake Malawi.

Residents have long complained that poor infrastructure has slowed development, despite the district’s strong tourism potential.

Kaunda said the projects will be implemented in phases to ensure transparency, accountability, and quality delivery.

“We want to do this properly so that the people of Nkhata Bay get lasting development,” he said.

Security forces neutralize armed group in Guinea’s Capital

CONAKRY-(MaraviPost)-Guinean security forces have neutralized an armed group in the capital city, Conakry, authorities said on Saturday.

The operation, carried out by a joint unit composed of police, soldiers, and customs officers, resulted in the complete neutralization of the group and the arrest of individuals involved after several exchanges of gunfire.

According to an official statement, the armed group had subversive intentions threatening national security, prompting the security services to conduct a targeted operation in a compound in the suburbs of Conakry.

Residents reported hearing gunfire on Friday night and early Saturday in Sonfonia, a neighborhood located about 15 km from downtown Conakry.

The incident comes a day before Guinea holds presidential elections, with nine candidates participating, including junta leader General Mamady Doumbouya.

The security forces’ swift action underscores the government’s commitment to maintaining stability and security in the country.

Guinea has a complex history of military and authoritarian rule, with the current junta having seized power in September 2021.

The country is rich in minerals, but more than half of its inhabitants live below the poverty line, according to World Bank figures for 2024.
