BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-Ekhaya FC put on a masterclass on Saturday afternoon as they secured a comfortable 3-0 victory over Chitipa United at Mpira Stadium in Blantyre.
James Lumbe opened the scoring in the 21st minute after receiving a precise pass from Emmanuel Saviel, slotting the ball home with ease to give Ekhaya FC an early advantage.
The goal ignited the home crowd and set the tone for the rest of the first half.
Ekhaya doubled their lead in the 29th minute through Blessings Malinda.
The striker’s dazzling footwork saw him breeze past the Chitipa United defense before firing a powerful shot past the goalkeeper.
A third goal came in the 39th minute as Saviel himself found the back of the net.
Ekhaya’s swift passing and coordinated movements broke down the visiting defense, making it look easy for Saviel to extend the lead to 3-0.
At halftime, the scoreboard read Ekhaya FC 3, Chitipa United 0. The goals came from James Lumbe (21’), Blessings Malinda (29’), and Emmanuel Saviel (39’).
The second half saw both teams make changes with Ekhaya introducing Wongani Kaponya for Matchipitsa, while Chitipa United made a triple substitution including Marley Kasongo, Raphael Nkhoma and Daniel Boston in an attempt to alter the game’s flow.
Chitipa United showed signs of improvement in possession but they were unable to penetrate Ekhaya’s organized defense.
Ekhaya also made tactical substitutions, bringing in Samuel Rukula, Clever Chikwata, Innocent Msowoya and Fanizo Mwansambo, which allowed them to maintain their dominance in the final stages of the match.
After five minutes of added time, the referee blew the final whistle, confirming Ekhaya FC’s emphatic 3-0 win. Moses Banda was named man of the match for his influential performance in midfield.
Chitipa United coach Kondwa Ikwanga acknowledged the fatigue of his players after their long journey, stating that although there were opportunities, the team failed to capitalize on them.
Meanwhile, Ekhaya coach Enos Chatama expressed satisfaction with the victory but noted that some tactical points from training didn’t go as planned, promising to address these in upcoming sessions.
Ekhaya is currently in 6th position with 36 points from 23 games, while Chitipa United sits in 9th position with 32 points from 25 matches.
