Bullets turn tables on Civil in TNM Super league clash

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-FCB Nyasa Big Bullets staged a dramatic comeback to defeat Civil Service United 4-3 in a pulsating TNM Super League match on Sunday at Kamuzu Stadium.

Civil started the match on the front foot and stunned the home crowd just eight minutes into the game when Chikaiko Batison finished off a move initiated from a corner.

Bullets, however, responded in the 16th minute through Peter Banda, who equalized after a well-timed pass from Ephraim Kondowe.

A costly mistake from goalkeeper Innocent Nyasulu in the 28th minute gifted Batison his second of the afternoon, restoring Civil’s lead and putting the hosts under pressure once again.

The turning point for Bullets came in the 35th minute when Babatunde Adepoju was introduced. His presence immediately changed the rhythm of their attack and two minutes later, Chikumbutso Salima pounced on a rebound to level the scores 2-2, sparking excitement in the stands.

With halftime approaching, Bullets’ momentum grew stronger.

In the 44th minute, Mapemba whipped in a corner which Salima headed home to give the hosts the lead for the first time although Civil protested for offside, resulting in head coach Abbas Makawa being shown a red card after a heated exchange with match officials.

The second half kicked off with Bullets carrying their attacking form and in the 55th minute, Salima completed a sensational hat-trick—his third goal assisted by Babatunde. The home side looked comfortable at 4-2.

Civil, however, refused to surrender. Batison completed his own hat-trick in the 71st minute after a clever pass from Khumbo Mhone, reducing the deficit and setting up a tense finish.

After the match, Bullets assistant coach Gilbert Chirwa praised his players for showing fighting spirit, urging supporters to respect the technical decisions made during matches.

On the other side, Civil head coach Abbas Makawa who had been sent off expressed disappointment, especially with Bullets’ third goal, insisting that the ball had not crossed the line and that the decision changed the complexion of the game.

Chikumbutso Salima was deservedly named Player of the Match, while Civil’s Batison walked away with the match ball after his brilliant hat-trick.

Bullets are sitting in 1st position with 53 points from 23 matches while Civil Service United are in 4th position with 37 points from the same number of games.

Ekhaya, Dedza Dynamos share spoils in TNM Super League

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-It was a game of emotions, drama and missed opportunities as Ekhaya FC and Goshen Dedza Dynamos battled to a 1–1 draw in a tense match played at Mpira Stadium in Blantyre on Saturday afternoon.

The game exploded into life just three minutes after kickoff when Dedza’s Marks Chiwaya capitalised on a defensive mix-up to nod home the opener, sending the visiting fans into early jubilation.

Dedza pressed hard afterwards, looking the sharper and more organised side with Chiwaya and Chifuniro Mpinganjira leading a series of threatening counterattacks.

Ekhaya, however, slowly grew into the game with Blessings Malinda and Wongani Kaponya orchestrating moves from midfield. Their efforts earned several corners, though Dedza’s backline, marshalled by the composed Peter Noah later named Man of the Match stood firm.

By halftime, Dedza led 1–0 but the script flipped after the break. Ekhaya came out firing, adopting a more direct approach and piling pressure on the visitors. Their persistence paid off in the 54th minute when Malinda, Ekhaya’s playmaker, unleashed a thunderous strike beyond goalkeeper Dennis Phiri to level the scores.

The equaliser energised the hosts, with substitute Clever Chikwata and Savieli combining dangerously in attack. However, wastefulness in front of goal haunted Ekhaya, as Savieli and Chikwata both squandered glorious chances.

The game’s biggest talking point came in the 76th minute when Ekhaya were awarded a controversial penalty after Chikwata went down inside the box. Dedza players vehemently protested, halting play for several minutes.

When calm was finally restored, Chikwata stepped up but saw his effort saved by Phiri, who guessed correctly to keep his side in the game.

Tensions escalated again in stoppage time when Dedza had a strong penalty appeal waved away after Mpinganjira appeared to be fouled inside the area.

The Dedza bench erupted with one technical official shown a red card as tempers boiled over.

At the final whistle both teams settled for a point a result that left Dedza coach Alex Ngwira visibly frustrated.

“We were the better side and could have taken all three points. My players fought hard despite the heat, and I’m proud of them,” Ngwira said.

Ekhaya’s Enos Chatama, meanwhile, lamented his team’s slow start and missed chances.

“We didn’t start well and conceded too early. Penalty misses have been our biggest problem we’ve now missed four this season. But I’m happy with the response from the boys. We’ll be ready for Wanderers next,” Chatama noted.

Ekhaya is in position 6 with a total of 33 points after playing 22 matches, while Goshen City Dedza Dynamos is in position 13 with 22 points from 22 games.

Mighty Wanderers lead TNM Super League after victory over Songwe Border United

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-Mighty Wanderers have climbed to the summit of the TNM Super League table following a hard-fought 2-0 victory over Songwe Border United on Wednesday afternoon at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.

The Nomads displayed dominance from the onset, creating multiple chances but struggled to find the back of the net in the first half.

Striker Muhammad Sulumba missed two early opportunities, while Isaac Kaliati saw several of his set pieces and corners easily dealt with by the Songwe defense.

Despite their control of possession, Wanderers went into the break goalless, frustrated by the resilience of Songwe’s backline and the sharp reflexes of goalkeeper Bernard Mwangosi, who made several key saves to keep his side in the game.

In the second half, Wanderers coach Bob Mpinganjira made tactical substitutions, bringing in Clement Nyondo, Promise Kamwendo and Stanley Sanudi to inject fresh energy into the attack. The changes soon paid dividends.

After continuous pressure, the breakthrough came in the 86th minute when substitute Clement Nyondo capitalized on a brilliant assist from Masiye Manda to slot home the opener, sending the home fans into jubilation.

Songwe tried to respond in the closing stages, but their efforts were neutralized by a composed Wanderers defense led by man-of-the-match Dan Kudoto.

Deep into added time, Cameroonian forward Thierry Tanjong Sama sealed the victory with a well-taken goal, making it 2-0 and ensuring that the Blantyre giants claimed all three points.

Speaking after the match, Wanderers coach Bob Mpinganjira praised his players for their determination and fighting spirit.

“The boys gave their all today. It wasn’t an easy game but their discipline and commitment made the difference,” he said.

Songwe Border United interim coach Edwin Kaonga acknowledged the defeat, saying fatigue played a role in his team’s performance.

“We fought hard but towards the end, my players were tired, and Wanderers took advantage. We’re not out of the race yet we’ll keep pushing until the final day,” Kaonga said.

The result sees Mighty Wanderers sitting comfortably on top of the TNM Super League table with 51 points from 21 matches, remaining the only unbeaten team in the 2025 season.
